This 2CD set is the ultimate soundtrack for the seriously hip!You can blame it on my dear mother, says Peter Urlich. My fascination with this era of music was born from her musical taste and the fact that as her youngest, I was often taken to adult parties that revolved around Bloody Marys and many of these very songs. They made the party guests happy and they seemed to resonate with me as well because I still dig them. The smoulder of Dusty, the charm of Dean and the sparkle of Mancini. Something to do with the sixties and its recipe to escape the harshness of reality via irresistibly catchy pop, wink-wink innuendo and cool cocktails. This album, like the other albums in the series, is really just about the songs, co-creator Simon Grigg continues. When Peter and I first came up with the concept of 'Room Service', it was as a celebration of the great songwriters, in particular that incredible lineage of great writers that go back to the Jewish immigration to America names like Gershwin and Berlin, and stretches forward to Bacharach, Leiber & Stoller, and yes, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Dylan. It's an incredible legacy and that is the core of this album. These are the songs that people hunched over a piano with for days as they worked to develop those gems of brilliance that drives the greatest writers to create, into songs that generations will enjoy and love and singer after singer will offer new interpretations of. Here for your aural pleasure, is the best of the 'Room Service' series the 'Deluxe' model.
