STAR-CD is a multipurpose one "heavy" CFD-development package CD-adapco group (formerly known as Computational Dynamics Ltd), the first to include a procedure for the so-called "Moving grids." An efficient algorithm parallelization solutions based on the use of the finite volume method, combined with the unique methods of automated partitioning of the flow can simulate tasks of any geometric complexity.
One of the first areas of the program has been widely used automotive industry, followed by STAR-CD has spread across all industries. Quality assurance program is the extensive co-operation with industrial corporations, engineering firms and research centers (Daimler-Chrysler, Imperial College, Aerospatiale-Missiles, etc.).
