HFSS - is a powerful software package that calculates the multi-mode S-parameters and electromagnetic fields in three-dimensional passive structures of arbitrary shape.
HFSS uses to solve the equations of electrodynamics, the finite element method (Finite Element Method, FEM), which includes adaptive generation and division of cells. Solutions for the electromagnetic field, found from Maxwell's equations to accurately determine all the characteristics of a microwave device, with the emergence and transformation of some types of waves in the other losses in the materials and the radiation, etc.
HFSS provides simulation capabilities of antennas, power dividers, circuit switching, waveguide components, filters, microwave and three-dimensional inhomogeneities, whose description is to create a drawing structures to exact material, identification of ports and the required characteristics. The calculation are inside and outside the structures, as well as multi-mode S-parameters.
The calculated S-parameters can be used later in the programs of analysis of linear and nonlinear circuits, in particular, the program Microwave Office, Ansoft Designer or ADS.
