2015 two CD set. Buddha-Bar has set itself as a Lounge music pioneer since the 90's. Known and recognized in France and internationally, Buddha-Bar is the lounge music reference of talent spotters in lounge and electronic music. With a subtle mix of chill, deep and electronic music influences, Buddha-Bar XVII is no exception to the savoir-faire of the little Parisian label, George V Records. Drawing inspiration from Morocco, this opus promises warmth and sensuality to take you to an enchanting dream world. Bold mixes, hypnotic compositions and aesthetic arrangements are the key components of this new selection filled with emotions. Travel from the coasts to the middle of the desert and let yourself be carried away by the warm and soothing melodies that are the signature of the very first opus of the music collection.
Now that I have had some time to listen and assimilate the new BB XVII set, I can easily say I like it. At first I didn't care much for the first disk, but found disk 2 to be the better. That has now changed, both disks are fantastic. However, I have only rated the set at 4 stars, as a result of the inclusion of the god awful version of Bang Bang by the Ukelele Orchestra. It just doesn't flow with rest of the set, neither is it a particularly good rendition of an old song. Currently my fave in the set is Bandish Projekt with their "Alchemy" cut.
Also, word was thaqt this was to be a Morroccan flavoured set, which I haven't found to be the case, still seems more Asian/Indian to me. Nevertheless, once again Buddha Bar and Ravin have presented us with yet another mix of world music that suits my musical taste. Highly recommended! Thanks Buddha Bar!!
